The embarrassing failure of The Country Bears - another Disney film based on a Disneyland ride - suggested to him that it was a bad idea. ![]() The franchise's beloved inspiration point is ironic, given that Michael Eisner, then CEO of Disney, initially resisted making a movie based on a Disneyland ride. In the Pirates of the Caribbean films, there are a lot of references to the ride at Disneyland that inspired them.
